    Narrative:

A 24-year-old woman was found dead in her Thousand Oaks apartment early Friday morning.

On December 24, 2021, at around 1:18AM, Thousand Oaks deputies responded to an emergency call in the 600 Block of McCloud Avenue in Thousand Oaks.  They arrived and found a woman who was unresponsive, with serious injuries.  Emergency personnel were unsuccessful with lifesaving measures and the woman was pronounced dead. Investigators found evidence that the victim had been tortured prior to her death.

The woman’s live-in boyfriend, Saul Nava, was at the scene.  During the investigation, Nava was arrested for murder, mayhem and torture.

Detectives executed a search warrant at Nava’s residence and seized evidence related to the crimes. This was an incident of domestic violence, and there is no outstanding threat to the community.

Nava was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, where he is currently being held in lieu of a $2,000,000.00 bail. He has a scheduled arraignment in Ventura County Superior Court on December 28, 2021, at 1:30PM, in Courtroom #13.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Sheriff’s Major Crimes Sergeant Albert Ramirez at (805) 384-4761. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
