Omar Lara (DOB 10/09/85), of Ventura, has been charged with solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder, each a felony. Lara has been in custody since February 16, 2019, on allegations of forcible rape, forcible digital penetration, dissuading a witness and residential burglary. While in custody, Lara attempted to hire someone to murder the alleged victim in his pending case. Lara faces a maximum possible sentence of 81 years to life in prison.
This case is being prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Sexual Assault and Family Protection Unit.
