Man Charged with Premeditated Murder for Ventura Beach Restaurant Stabbing

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced that Jamal Jackson (DOB 4/13/69) has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder for the stabbing death of Anthony Mele. The homicide occurred on April 18, 2018, at a restaurant in Ventura. It is also alleged that Jackson has a prior “strike” offense for residential burglary. The case was investigated by the Ventura Police Department.

Arraignment was continued to Friday, April 27, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 14.  Jackson remains in custody at the Ventura County jail in lieu of $1.5 million bail. Jackson faces a maximum possible sentence of 55 years to life in prison.
