Man convicted of First Degree Murder in Grandmother’s Death

buy arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>Gustavo Rios III (DOB 10/19/1988), has been convicted of murder in the first degree.  A special allegation for the use of a knife in the commission of the crime was found true.  Rios faces a sentence of 26 years to life.

On July 1, 2012, 75-year old Isabel Hernandez was found stabbed to death in a pool of blood on her kitchen floor.  Rios, her grandson, was the last person to see her alive.  The murder was particularly heinous and the victim sustained significant defensive wounds while fighting for her life.
