Man Convicted of Kidnapping, Raping and Battering Dating Partner
VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that David Romero (DOB 10/04/90), of Ventura, was found guilty by jury of rape, aggravated kidnapping and infliction of injury on a dating partner. The jury returned verdicts of guilt on one count of rape and three counts of infliction of injury on a dating partner and found true the special allegation that Romero committed aggravated kidnapping against the 20-year-old victim. The crimes took place in 2013 in the cities of Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme.
Sentencing for Romero is scheduled April 22, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 23 of the Ventura Superior Court, County of Ventura. Romero faces a maximum possible sentence of 58 years to life in state prison.
