Quoc Ly (DOB 02/23/81), of Camarillo, pled guilty to felony auto insurance fraud and also admitted as true a special allegation that he previously sustained a felony conviction for auto insurance fraud.
In 2016, Ly submitted a claim to GEICO Insurance, stating an unknown person vandalized his car. After GEICO paid Ly for these damages, he cancelled his GEICO policy and immediately opened a new policy with Progressive Insurance. Ly then submitted a claim to Progressive Insurance, again stating someone vandalized his car. Investigators determined Ly had never repaired the original damages claimed to GEICO and was attempting to get paid twice.
Sentencing for Ly is scheduled on September 17, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 23 of the Ventura County Superior Court. Ly faces up to seven years in custody.
