Man threatens to shoot Officer at Juvenile Justice Center Courthouse

On 12/7/2016, (S) Joshua Gibson made verbal threats to blow up the Juvenile Justice Center Courthouse and to shoot an officer. Gibson was upset after being found guilty of a traffic violation.  Court staff immediately reported the threats to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.  The courthouse was immediately searched for possible explosive devices.  None were found. 

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Gang Unit (SGU) quickly located Gibson and arrested him without incident.  No firearms or explosive items were located during Gibson’s arrest and subsequent search.

Gibson was arrested and was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for PC 422 / Criminal Threats.  His bail is set at $200,000.
