Meiners Oaks Man Charged in Neighbor’s Death
VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Richard Eric Arellanes (DOB 11/25/67), of Meiners Oaks, has been charged with murder for the killing of his neighbor, Padraic Murphy, which occurred on September 28, 2018. The complaint charges one count of murder in violation of Penal Code section 187(a) and a special allegation for the use of a firearm in the commission of the crime.
Arellanes is currently in custody at the Ventura County jail in lieu of bail that has been set at $1 million. Arellanes’ arraignment was continued to October 15, 2018, at 1:30 in courtroom 14 of the Ventura Superior Court, County of Ventura.
