Mendoza sentenced to 7 years 4 months for grand theft and foreclosure fraud
buy arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>Superior Court Judge Ryan Wright sentenced Gregoria Mendoza (DOB 5/14/55), of Oak View, to seven years four months in state prison. Mendoza had previously pleaded guilty to multiple counts of felony grand theft and one count of felony foreclosure consultant fraud. She also admitted the aggravated white collar crime enhancement for taking more than $100,000 from multiple victims. The charges were the result of an investigation conducted by the District Attorney’s Real Estate Fraud Unit.
Mendoza created at least six separate real estate investment schemes to entice investors from Ventura, Los Angeles, and Tulare Counties. She made false representations that victims’ monies would be invested in various real estate endeavors. Mendoza deposited some of the victims’ proceeds into her own accounts and used these funds to pay her personal expenses. Total victim losses exceeded $470,000.
In addition to the prison sentence, Mendoza was ordered to pay over $470,000 in restitution to 10 of the victims defrauded in this case. The court appointed a receiver to liquidate three rental properties controlled by Mendoza for purposes of victim restitution.
