Metrolink Seeking Public Input on Schedule Changes as Part of Title VI Policies

LOS ANGELES – Metrolink is seeking public input on several schedule adjustments that were enacted in March 2020, necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, as part of Title VI requirements. Last year, the regional passenger railroad enacted a 30 percent schedule reduction due to lower demand following stay-at-home orders.
Title VI of the 1964 U.S. Civil Rights Code ensures that no person is excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of transit services on the basis of race, color or national origin.
The schedule reduction resulted in weekday trains cut from 167 on Monday-Thursday and 169 on Friday, to 115 trains Monday through Friday, a drop of 52 daily trains and 54 trains on Friday. Weekend train operations were not modified. Total miles operated were reduced daily from 9,996 to 7,761, a reduction of 2,235 miles.
