Metrolink Surprises Riders with Free Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream for National Ice Cream Month

The Metrolink team, including CEO Stephanie Wiggins, surprised dedicated riders at Los Angeles Union Station with free ice cream scoops to celebrate National Ice Cream Month and to thank them for choosing Metrolink as their preferred mode to getting to work.

“We partnered with our good friends at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream in LA Union Station to cool off our passengers on their short ride home to celebrate National Ice Cream Month,” said Wiggins. “We love having fun at Metrolink but we really like thanking Southern Californians for riding our trains.”

Every year, Metrolink riders choose to leave their cars at home and use safe, efficient and dependable commuter rail instead. Metrolink riders account for 8.7 million car trips not taken, resulting in saving 13.7 million gallons of gasoline.

The treat was a result of a partnership between Metrolink and Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop at Los Angeles Union Station.

“With high temperatures this summer, we thought National Ice Cream Month would be a great time to surprise our fans at L.A. Union Station with free scoops on the train platform,” said David Bernstein, owner of the Ben & Jerry’s franchise at Union Station, located near the Amtrak ticketing counter.

In addition to receiving Metrolink keepsakes, passengers also took photos with Wiggins and Ben & Jerry’s mascot, Woody the Cow.
