Metrolink Thanks Riders During Second Annual Customer Appreciation Day

This Valentine’s Day, Metrolink will thank customers for taking the train during its second annual Customer Appreciation Day. During the morning rush, Metrolink staff will thank riders with treats of candy at select stations in the five-county region. At Union Station, riders can stop for a free cup of coffee in the morning or free ice cream in the afternoon.
In addition, beginning on Customer Appreciation Day and continuing through February 20, riders can enter to win one of 15 March monthly passes by entering the #OurMetrolink contest. To enter, riders simply take a selfie on board a Metrolink train with another passenger and post it on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #OurMetrolink. Riders can also post the selfie as a comment in a Customer Appreciation Day post on Metrolink’s Facebook page. From the eligible entries, 15 winners will be selected at random.
“Whether traveling to work, to visit family or see the sights in our beautiful communities, our riders are the reason we operate our trains,” said Metrolink Board Chair Brian Humphrey. “We want to show our appreciation and let them know how important they are to us and the community. Their ridership not only allows them to skip the traffic and save money, but also reduces freeway congestion and emissions in the region from all the cars they left at home.”
Metrolink operates service in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura counties offering riders the option to avoid freeways to get virtually anywhere in the five-county area, removing an estimated 9.3 million vehicles from the roads and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 130,000 metric tons annually. Metrolink experienced record-breaking ridership last year, with the upward trend continuing with over three percent growth this year.
Metrolink encourages everyone to take the train this Valentine’s Day and throughout the weekend. Metrolink’s $10 Weekend Day Pass is good for unlimited rides on the Metrolink system and includes free transfers to the Metro Rail system. The $10 Weekend Day Pass can be purchased on Metrolink’s mobile app or at train station ticket vending machines on the day of travel. Metrolink’s app is available for free download on the App Store or Google Play. For more information on the mobile app, please visit metrolinktrains.com/mobileapp.
