Michelle Filkins pleads guilty in overdose death of Armando Patrick Serna

The charges arose after investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit responded to the heroin overdose death of Oxnard resident Armando Patrick Serna in the unincorporated area of Silver Strand Beach on June 27, 2015. Filkins admitted to investigators that she provided heroin to Mr. Serna, who injected himself before he stopped breathing and died.
Sentencing for Filkins is scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on August 7, 2015, in courtroom 12 of the Ventura Superior Court, County of Ventura. Filkins faces a sentence ranging from felony probation with a year in county jail, to a maximum sentence of eight years in state prison.
