Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On May 19th, 2020, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s – Moorpark Investigations Bureau arrested Andrew Knight of Los Angeles, for Identity Theft. The Identity Theft charge was associated with the unlawful purchase of almost $250,000.00 worth of high-end, luxury automobiles.
The investigation began on April 29th, when Andrew L. Knight, residing in the City of Moorpark, Ventura County, reported to deputies that an unknown suspect had assumed his identity by utilizing his personal identifying information in order to secure credit. Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Andrew Knight of Los Angeles. Detectives determined that Suspect Knight assumed the identity of Victim Andrew Knight and purchased two high-end, luxury automobiles, worth approximately $250,000.00. Suspect Knight also obtained a credit card in the victim’s name.
Using a variety of investigative techniques, detectives successfully tracked Suspect Knight to a business in West Los Angeles and arrested him without incident. One of the vehicles was recovered during the arrest. Suspect Knight was transported back to Ventura County and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail on charges of Identity Theft. A bail request was set for $200,000.00.
