The Moorpark College Foundation will host a pre-law summer workshop facilitated by Moorpark College President Luis Sanchez, JD, LLM, who served as a practicing attorney and professor of law prior to working as a community college administrator. The one-week orientation to the study and practice of law begins August 1-5, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and includes a complimentary lunch each day. The workshop is intended for high school and college students or anyone interested in pursuing a law degree and contemplating a career in the field of law. It is designed to provide insight into preparing for the Law School Aptitude Test (LSAT), getting a Juris Doctorate, taking the Bar Exam, and career opportunities in law.
“The Summer Pre-Law Institute will give potential law students a clear overview of what to expect before they spend $100,000 to $200,000, which is the approximate cost of law school these days,” said Sanchez. “For a fraction of the cost, this workshop will give prospective students a clear understanding of what this degree entails and what the career has to offer should they select this path.”
Sanchez received his Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA. He practiced corporate law and taught Business Law, Federal Income Taxation Law, and Law and Society at various institutions in Sacramento in his former career.
The course will feature a panel of lawyers, law students, and law school professors to discuss the practice of law, the study of law, and applying to law school. Participants will also take a practice LSAT and receive feedback on exam results.
The workshop costs $500.00 and enrollment is limited to the first thirty registrants. For more information or to register, please contact Tracy Stewart (805) 553-4761 or email [email protected]. Proceeds from the workshop will benefit the Moorpark College Foundation and students of Moorpark College.
