Current Openings/Applications

If you would like to be considered for an appointment to one of the City’s boards, commissions, committees, or teen council you may print and mail in an application form or submit your application online. 

The City is currently recruiting for the following:

Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council

The Moorpark City Council requests that interested persons submit an application for consideration for the City’s appointment to the Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging.  The two-year term commences July 1, 2014, and expires June 30, 2016.  Applicants must be age 60 or older, reside within the city limits of Moorpark, and registered to vote in Moorpark.

The Area Agency on Aging is responsible for the implementation of the Older Americans Act in Ventura County.  Its mandated functions are planning and coordinating senior citizen programs and the administration of all Older Americans Act funds.

Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee

The Moorpark City Council requests interested persons submit an application for consideration to fill a vacancy on the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC).  The appointment is to complete the current term to expire December 2014.

CTAC meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Government Center in Ventura.  The duties and responsibilities of the committee are to obtain any and all information relating to public transportation; to study and work with City/County staffs within Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) and to recommend to VCTC those actions it deems necessary in the production of transportation plans and services.  Mileage reimbursement will be provided for attendance at meetings based upon City Council policy.

Moorpark City Library Board

The Moorpark City Council requests interested persons submit an application for consideration for appointment to the Library Board to fill one (1) vacancy for a term ending June 30, 2015, and two (2) vacancies for a three year term ending June 30, 2017.  The Library Board consists of five individuals who are appointed by the Mayor and City Council for a three (3) year term.

Applicants must reside within the city limits the City of Moorpark; be a registered voter in Moorpark, and where possible, have a special knowledge of libraries, library programs, or related subjects.

The Library Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.  Other meetings may be required.  Members of the Library Board shall receive compensation, as approved by resolution of the City Council, for their attendance at each regular meeting

All applicants will be required to attend the regular City Council meeting of either May 21, 2014 or June 4, 2014, to make a brief presentation (not to exceed three minutes) on qualifications and interest in the appointment.  Failure to make a presentation shall result in disqualification for appointment.  Use of a PowerPoint presentation will be permitted if the City Clerk has been provided with the file no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Teen Council

The Moorpark City Council requests that interested persons submit a Teen Council Application for consideration for appointment to the Moorpark Teen Council for a one year term ending June 30, 2015.

The Teen Council consists of no less than seven (7) and no more than fifteen (15) members who are Moorpark teens entering 7th to 12th grades in the fall.  Selection of members shall be one (1) representative from each grade level from 7th grade to 12th grade and the remaining members as representatives at large.  All representatives must be Moorpark city residents and be enrolled in school.  Special attention will be given to insure that all middle schools and high schools in Moorpark have some representation on the Teen Council.  Representatives would typically be limited to not serving more than a total of three years on the Teen Council to allow more teens the opportunity to serve as a Teen Council representative.

The Teen Council will meet one to two times per month (beginning in September 2014), and will assist the Recreation Superintendent and Recreation Coordinator with planning and implementing teen programs.
