Moorpark Morning Rotary Club Presents Inaugural Film Festival

Moorpark Morning Rotary Club invites the community to attend its inaugural film festival, which will be held at the historic High Street Arts Center Aug. 23-25, 2019. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and other charities.

Film festival attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of independent feature films, music videos, and documentary, narrative and student shorts. In addition to the films, the festival will also include an awards ceremony and a party with filmmakers and industry veterans.

“This event truly has something for everyone,” said Jay Ellison, festival director. “We’ve got fantastic entries spanning a variety of genres and styles — it’s going to be three great days of entertainment. And best of all, the festival is a chance for us all to come together in support of wonderful causes.”

A panel of entertainment industry professionals — including actor Art LaFleur, entertainment industry producer and educator Robin Forman Howard, actress Mary Carrig, director Rachel Nee-Hall, and motion picture technical operations and quality assurance expert Bob Olson — will judge the festival entries to select Jury Award winners in each category. Festival attendees will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorites. The film in each category with the most votes will receive an Audience Award that includes a cash prize.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The event will kick off with a screening of “The Biggest Little Farm,” which chronicles the eight-year quest of John and Molly Chester as they trade city living for 200 acres of barren farmland in Moorpark.
