On 1/17/20, at approximately 3:15 PM, a Moorpark Patrol Deputy made a traffic enforcement stop on multiple vehicles for blocking a controlled intersection. One of the vehicles was driven by Ampelio Duarte Carrillo who identified himself with only a Mexican passport. It was later determined Duarte Carrillo’s driver license was suspended for a prior Driving Under the Influence arrest. The deputy also observed signs that Duarte Carrillo w
as presently under the influence of drugs.
A DUI investigation was conducted and Duarte Carrillo was arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence of Methamphetamine and Driving on a Suspended License (for DUI). A search of Duarte Carrillo’s vehicle revealed methamphetamine, several small baggies for packaging drugs, a functional scale, a fraudulent Resident Alien Card, a fraudulent Social Security Card, and a loaded unregistered handgun.
Duarte Carrillo was booked into Ventura County Jail on several felony and misdemeanor charges related to the sale of drugs, unlawful possession of a firearm, and driving under the influence of drugs. His bail was set at $250,000.00. Duarte Carrillo’s vehicle was impounded. His court date is pending.
