Moorpark: Suspect arrested for stealing property from parked car

viagra arial, cialis sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On 06/27/2016 at about 7:00 PM, patrol deputies responded to a report call in the 14000 block of Stagecoach Trail in Moorpark, reference a theft from an unlocked vehicle.  Deputies determined the victim parked her vehicle on the street in front of her residence, but did not lock it.  When the victim returned to her vehicle several hours later, she discovered her wallet and credit cards had been stolen.

Moorpark Station Detectives followed up on the report and discovered one of the victim’s credit cards had been used at a local gas station on 06/27/2016 @ 1:22 AM, Detectives were able to obtain video surveillance of the suspect using the credit card and were attempting to identify him. 

On 06/29/2016, at approximately 1:15 AM, an alert homeowner noticed a suspicious subject looking into vehicles in the 15000 block of Shawnee Street.  The homeowner reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office and patrol deputies arrived on scene a short time later.  Patrol deputies located the suspect, who was identified as (S) Jordan Kovacs, as he got out of a parked vehicle.  Deputies investigated the incident and learned the vehicle Kovacs was seen getting out of did not belong to him.  Deputies contacted the owner of the vehicle and discovered Kovacs did not have permission to be in the vehicle.  Additionally, property that had been reported stolen from the vehicle was located in Kovacs’ pocket.  Patrol deputies also found property belonging to another local resident in Kovacs’ possession.  Deputies contacted the owner of the property and determined Kovacs had stolen property from the second victim’s unlocked vehicle. 

A search of Kovacs’ vehicle, which was parked a short distance away, revealed additional stolen property from a local residence.  Deputies contacted the resident and determined Kovacs entered the unlocked garage of the residence and stole several items. 

Kovacs was arrested for PC 484(a) – Theft, PC 496 – Possession of stolen property, and PC 459 – Burglary.  Detectives also positively identified Kovacs as the suspect that used the victim’s stolen credit card at a Moorpark gas station on 01/27/2016 @ 0122 hours and he was also arrested for PC 484g(a) – Theft by access card.  Kovacs’ bail has been set at $55,000.00. 

Members of the public are reminded to remove valuable items and keep their vehicles locked when left unattended.  Thieves target vehicles that are left unlocked in shopping centers and residential areas, as they are easily entered without drawing unwanted attention to the thieves.

My daughters wallet was stolen also with debit liscense and several gift cards 1 week ago.
