Motorcyclist arrested after police pursuit in Santa Paula

Santa Paula Police Department –  Incident Press Release

On Monday, January 2, 2017 at approximately 5:05pm a Santa Paula police officer was monitoring the intersection of Palm Ave. and Santa Maria Street.

While monitoring the intersection the officer observed a subject, later identified as Randall Hernandez age 24 of Santa Paula, riding a motorcycle westbound on Santa Maria St. through the intersection of Palm Ave.  Hernandez failed to stop for the stop sign at that intersection at approximately 40 mph.  The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Hernandez by activating his lights and siren.  Hernandez looked back at the officer and increased his speed to approximately 70mph still continuing westbound on Santa Maria Street.  Hernandez attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Lucada Street however he lost control and almost became involved in a solo accident.  Hernandez then pulled over however he was uncooperative with officers verbal commands.  Shortly thereafter Hernandez was taken into custody without incident.

Hernandez was arrested for evading a police officer.  Hernandez was transported to the Santa Paula Police Department for processing and booked at Ventura County Main Jail where he is being held on $5,000 bail.
