Naughty or Nice? Trump’s Comin’ To Town!

I was not a Twitter-user before Donald J. Trump was elected our 45th President. I became one when I accepted I could not count on traditional media outlets to report fairly (or at all!) on the President’s work on behalf of the American people. My tweet-gem today comes from United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley discussing the Administration’s decision to move our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“At the UN we’re always asked to do more & give more. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American ppl, abt where to locate OUR embassy, we don’t expect those we’ve helped to target us. On Thurs there’ll be a vote criticizing our choice. The US will be taking names.” UN Ambassador Nikki Haley

Ambassador Haley’s tweet reminds me of the list-lyrics from a favorite Christmas song written by John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie and first sung on Eddie Cantor‘s radio show in November 1934: Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.

Trump’s making a list
Trump’s checking it twice;
Trump’s gonna find out who’s naughty or nice!

The tweet also illustrates fine irony. The traditional gift to be delivered to countries that end up on the “How-dare-the-USA-naughty” list is COAL.

According to Mining Technology, the United States will have no shortage of coal-naughty-gifts to deliver to nations who are wont to criticize our nation’s foreign policy decisions!

“More than 80% of the world’s total proved coal reserves are located in just 10 countries. The US tops the list with more than a quarter of the proven coal reserves…”

Who and how many names will be on Trump’s naughty list? Thursday’s vote at the United Nations will reveal all!
