Naval Base Ventura County to hold readiness exercise

Command Assessment of Readiness and Training (CART) will be conducted at Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) and there will be large-scale installation exercises at NBVC Port Hueneme from May 9 thru May 10. Area residents may also see or hear security activities associated with the exercise. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday residents may see areas around NBVC Port Hueneme that are closed or blocked off for traffic as part of this assessment. At the gates, you may see 100% ID checks/scans, increased security measures, and potential gate closures. Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions within local communities and to normal base operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around bases or delays in base access.

Also expect ATHOC and Giant Voice speaker system (test messages only) will be used during the exercise.

We ask for your maximum participation, cooperation, flexibility and patience when/where applicable.

For more information about CART, please call the Naval Base Ventura County Public Affairs Office at 805-989-8095.
