NCIR Action | National Coalition for Issue Reform

By Sigrid Weidenweber

I have never endorsed a political party, community group, clothing brand and face-book entities. But here I am, doing just that.

For a while now I have had the urge to shout “Awaken you damned of this earth.” So go the lyrics of the Communist International…Well, these days I feel I should sing this song, too, by adding: damned and deplorable.

Why so dramatic and downtrodden? You might ask. Well it’s these venal, crooked, perfidious politicians who govern us. We put them in office, with expectations—that they raise and do not fulfill. Not only do they not fulfill their promises with action—but use their office only to advance their own political ambitions.

Time and again I hear people swear that they would not make “that” mistake again, voting for “her” or “him” and yet, the same old names show up having been elected again. Why does this happen?

The greatest culprit in the equation is voter apathy. We do not read about enough about the bills concocted in Sacramento and the votes by our representatives. But to exculpate us, I must add that most of us are too busy working, raising children and taken care of our families. However, it has become incumbent upon us to see who votes for the terrible things they sneak by us in Sacramento—the bills they do not allow the tax-payer to vote on, for they are crippling to our businesses and heavy burdens on citizens.

The other reason we choose bad politicians, is name-familiarity. Oh yes, everyone knows Brown—so vote for him. His father was once also here. I have known people to vote for a representative because “she was nice.”

And yet, in our deep predicament—there shines a light on the horizon. Relief for us in our voting guessing game. We now can make informed decisions with the help of the people from NCRI. NCIR ‘s Mission statement is self-explanatory.

NCIR is strictly NON PARTISAN, focused on obvious issues, concerning us all. The people working for the organization believe it is not too much to ask that good people represent good people. They are tired of special interest groups with agendas based on greed are controlling the vast majority of good people. This is not fair—this is just plain wrong.”

NCIR states in clear, concise terms who in Sacramento is voting to feather their political nest by voting alongside powerful political business interests, instead of protecting the interests of California’s citizens. NCRI does this by providing us with the activity and voting records our representatives.

NCIR’s Motto is: WHAT IS ACCOUNTABILITY WORTH TO YOU?

This amazing group, under the leadership of Fred Sotille, has taken it upon itself to sift through all details and tedium, giving you, the voter, accounts of abuses committed by those who should look out for you. Therefore, I encourage you: go to NCRI’s web-site and inform yourself; contact the group, join or contribute.
