New Life Pastor Steve Abraham: “Discover the secret place”

    By Michael Hernandez

OXNARD—“Discover the secret place,” said New Life Pastor Steve Abraham during the livestream Sunday service.  “This is a trying time; as we shelter physically and we seek the ultimate advice for those sheltered  physically and emotionally.”

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1) read Pastor Abraham.   “Today, we still look for places to hide but these are places of the heart:

    • We hide behind low expectations—“When we don’t get the job, when we don’t get healed, when we don’t have kids—then we’re not disappointed.”
    • We hide behind insecurity—“Our tool of choice is anger.”
    • We hide behind success—“We get a bigger house, a better job, more money but we still are secretly miserable.”
    • We hide behind hyper-spirituality—“We say the right things at Church.”
    • We hide behind social media—“I have followers and likes and I can present my life as awesome.”

“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust,” (Psalm 91:2).  “How do I get into the presence of God?

    • Pray (Use ACTS):

    A:  Adoration

    C:  Confession

    T:  Thanksgiving

S:  Supplication (pour out your cares and concerns to God)

    • Read the Word of God (Meditate, Memorize, Apply scriptures to your life)
    • Worship (“Just don’t worship on Sunday mornings.”)

“Rest in the safest place,” said Pastor Abraham.   “We are in a battle spiritually.  We can run to Him and find a shelter and refuge.   When you put your trust in God, He will come through.  Trust God, He will never fail you, never forsake you, never leave you alone.

“He has got our family, finances, health, emotions, fears, concerns and worry. He is our refuge and our strength.  Discover the secret place; it is the presence of God; and rest in the safest place.”
