The method of calculating the water service rate portion of your utility bill has recently changed. In 2019, the City completed a water cost of service and rate study. The approved rate structure lowered the fixed service charge and created 3-tiered volumetric rate structure. As a result of the change, customer use will now have a larger impact on utility bills. The new water rate structure went into effect on April 1, 2020.
Simultaneously, the City has also moved from a bi-monthly to monthly billing cycle. The first invoice under the new billing cycle covered 42 days of use (March 12, 2020 through April 23, 2020) and therefore does not represent typical monthly usage.
We appreciate that these changes can be confusing.
