NFIB Press Conference- CA CD26 candidate Jeff Gorell Endorsement video

Candidates Corner

By George Miller televised this press conference and made two videos available- full conference and Jeff Gorell speech only.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce spokesman Nick Castor kicked off the session, endorsing California District 26 (most of Ventura County) Congressional candidate Jeff Gorell, who he said votes for growth and jobs  96% of the time, cited problems in state and country, says Congresswoman Julia Brownley, who voted pro-business only 17% of the time, is an outsider from Santa Monica, which he said is a nice place,  but very different from Ventura County, that Brownley ran for office here, cast too many votes against growth and prosperity. He touted Gorell for his war service, DA office work, teaching at Cal Lutheran and legislative work in Sacramento.  Nothing was said about his lobbying activities, criticized in recent Democrat Party campaign mailers.

John Kabateck, Executive Director, NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses) California followed with more laudatory prose, saying Gorell supports policies for free enterprise and business, criticized  Brownley’s 20% rating for business-friendliness and noted that she favors federalism.

Next was Nancy Lindholm of Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, who claimed Gorell voted 100% pro-business and the “local legislator” only 15%.  Will Berg of  Port Hueneme Chamber of Commerce also spoke. Eric Cushing of Camarillo Chamber (Gorell is a member of their board) said similar things and also claimed Gorell understands the real impact of legislation and also comprehends its unintended consequences.

Businesspeople also spoke up in endorsement, such as event host Steve Gill of Gills Onions, Tom Lucas of Performance Nursery and Kasey Kruft of Sweet Peas Flowers. Most of the people standing in the photo are business people endorsing Gorell (see web site link below).

Gorell has been a Republican California Assemblyman since 2010, although he missed some time in the legislature while on active duty with the Navy.
