Camarillo, California – Effective January 1, 2021, all public transportation in Camarillo will be at no cost, until further notice.
As described in EOC-Director Order 20-4, many Camarillo residents, and workers employed by Camarillo businesses, have experienced significant losses of income due to the limitations and closures to businesses caused by the Regional Stay-at-Home Order and prior Orders and restrictions related to the pandemic.
Transit fares were initially suspended in March 2020, following the County’s and City’s declaration of a health emergency. Fares were reinstated in July, when businesses began re- opening; however, transit riders continue to be impacted by losses and reductions in employment. Therefore, transit fares will be suspended once again, under EOC-Director Order 20-4. CARES Act funds may be used for transit purposes in order to offset loss in revenues.
EOC Director Greg Ramirez signed the order, effective December 17 at 1:00 p.m. A resolution was ratified by the Camarillo City Council on January 13, 2020.
