In the aftermath of Kate Steinle’s murder in San Francisco by an oft-deported illegal alien, one wonders: Why hasn’t President Obama weighed in on this senseless, completely avoidable tragedy?

He was so quick to proclaim that police had “acted stupidly” in their rough treatment of a Harvard Professor. But when San Francisco’s Sheriff Mirkarimi releases an illegal alien with seven felonies and five deportations who then kills a young woman walking beside her father, Obama is stunningly silent.

Why hasn’t he opined that this Sheriff “acted stupidly” in ignoring ICE’s detainer (formal request) to hold this man for deportation?

Kate Steinle’s assailant is a repeat felon released to the streets by Sheriff Mirkarimi because San Francisco’s Progressive elites don’t believe in borders. Their “Sanctuary City” policy ignores – violates – Federal immigration laws, and guarantees all undocumented, illegal aliens within the city’s boundaries protection from the American system of laws.

Law-breakers with absolutely no legal right to be in this country are guaranteed sanctuary from U.S. laws, while American citizens are provided no sanctuary from the criminals among them!

The Sheriff and the SF Board of Supervisors responsible for this policy are clearly complicit in the death of Kate Steinle, in a moral sense if not in the legal one.

So, where is Obama? Why the selective silence? Is Kate Steinle’s death not tragic enough to merit comment? Is criticizing illegal-alien criminals not allowed?

Or could it be guilty recognition that his own tacit approval of the “Sanctuary City” policy of San Francisco led directly to this young woman’s death?

When Black teen-ager Treyvon Martin was shot, Obama rushed to the microphones to join the national cacaphony about racist violence. “If I had a son,” Obama lamented, “he’d look like Trayvon.”

Where is Obama’s outrage on Kate’s behalf? Where, his anguished cry that “If my daughter had been shot dead as she walked beside me…”

(You can guess how Obama might finish such a statement. But you needn’t imagine how Kate’s father felt. Listen to this heartrending interview of Kate’s Steinle’s parents by FOX News analyst Bill O’Reilly here and here , and see my note below.)

But perhaps a deeper problem is that Kate was White, while her assailant is of a favored minority.   Consider the times Obama has opined publicly on local police matters:

  • Travon Martin, a Black youth shot by a Whiteappearing man (he’s part Hispanic)
  • Michael Brown, a Black man shot (justifiably!) by a White policeman
  • Eric Garner, a Black man whose death resulted from being restrained by White policemen
  • And Professor Gates, a Black man, who was arrested on his own porch because he was belligerent and resisted White police authority.

Now, consider cases for which Obama has been silent (excerpted from the Victims of Illegal Aliens Memorial ):

  • Kate Steinle, a young White woman apparently killed by a Hispanic illegal immigrant
  • Bob Barry, Jr, a White man killed in a traffic collision with a Hispanic illegal immigrant
  • Grant Ronnebeck, a young White man shot dead over two packs of cigarettes while working in a convenience store, by a Hispanic illegal with ties to the Mexican Mafias.
  • Parker Moore, a White college student, stabbed to death by a Hispanic man with previous arrests and deportations under different names
  • Michael Davis and Daniel Oliver, two White Deputies shot and killed as they stopped to investigate a car involved in an ongoing crime spree, allegedly by a Hispanic man previously deported twice.

See any pattern here?

The shared truths in these tragedies are this: That Americans are killed far too frequently by non-Americans who have no legal right to be here; and that many of the perpetrators are Hispanics who have repeatedly been deported.

That the Administration is deliberately uninterested in this problem is evinced in headline-tones by Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security, who said today in Congressional testimony that he does not have an opinion on whether “Sanctuary Cities” are breaking the law; and he did not even know who Kate Steinle was.

Donald Trump speaks in-artfully and sloppily about this, but he does speak to what are blatantly obvious facts about our Immigration “system”: That many illegal immigrants are Hispanic; that many of them return after being deported; and that a significant number of returning deportees are criminals, including dangerous felons. Their nationality is an accident of geography and socioeconomic facts; but their recidivism is a direct result of the Federal government’s failure to secure our borders, and the illegal actions of “Sanctuary” cities.

But there is another, disturbing question raised by the two lists above:   Is the President fundamentally unconcerned about the security of White Americans?

Is it racist of me to suggest that?

Or is it racist of the President to behave this way?

There are two kinds of racism – the thinking kind, which finds people making judgements based on perceived differences in color, in background, in ethnicity; and the doing kind, which finds people behaving as if those differences justify differential treatment of others.

I don’t know what’s in Obama’s heart; but his behaviors, his choices, his Presidential decisions seem to illustrate the doing kind.

Obama seems to care about protecting only those whose ancestors did not come from Europe. In his mind, “Affirmative Action” apparently means denying White Americans the protection of their government. So victims who are “European-ish” are unimportant; while criminals who are of color” deserve protections.

Perhaps that is why he seems so unconcerned by the ascendancy of Iran, China and Russia, and so comfortable presiding over the decline of America as a world power. Seen in this light, his “deal” with Iran, which clearly puts Iran in the catbird seat and sets America on a path to irrelevance in the region, makes perfect – albeit dangerous – sense.

Obama promised to be the the President of all Americans. But he behaves as the President of non-White America, and the Master – the punisher – of White America.

Obama calls Lincoln his favorite President. He should remember that Lincoln devoted his Presidency to doing away with the master-slave relationship.

AUTHOR’S NOTE on Kate’s Law:

Bill O’Reilly, often unfairly maligned and vilified by the Left as a “hard-line Conservative,” is actually a fair-minded Independent with a passion for protecting children. His passion shows through in his nearly-tearful interchange with Kate’s father; and it has driven him to a rare foray into political activism. O’Reilly is pushing for legislation in memory of Kate Steinle, dubbed “Kate’s Law,” to impose mandatory sentences on previously deported alien-felons who return to the U.S. To help with this effort, or to donate to help Kate Steinle’s family, please follow the links below:
