OXNARD, Calif. – The Oxnard City Clerk’s office announces the upcoming nomination period of July 12 through Aug. 5, 2021, for Oxnard residents seeking candidacy for the special election of District 2 Councilmember.
The special election will fill the one-year term remaining since former Councilmember Carmen Ramirez was elected County Supervisor in November 2020. Councilmember Gabe Teran was appointed by the City Council to serve District 2 until the special election is held on November 2, 2021.
To run for office, candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States and registered to vote, and reside within the boundaries of District 2.

To pull papers as a candidate, you must make an appointment with the City Clerk’s office by calling (805) 385-7803.
The deadline to submit completed nomination documents is 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021.
