October Outdoor Art Classes at the Santa Paula Art Museum

SANTA PAULA, CA – While the Santa Paula Art Museum’s indoor galleries remain closed, its art classes have moved outside. All classes are being taught within the Museum’s outdoor courtyard to allow for art making while social distancing. Space is extremely limited as class sizes are being kept small, and preregistration is required. Register for class and read more about the Museum’s new policies for maintaining a safe learning environment on our website: www.santapaulaartmuseum.org/creativity.

Join us outside in October for our new, four-part course “Still Life in Oil: Essential Skills” led by teaching artist Gabriel Islas. Practice essential skill building, and refine your techniques and understanding of light, shadow, color, line, texture, and the elements of a satisfying composition. Plus, finish the course with a beautiful painting of your own to take home. This four-part class will be taught from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020; Saturday, October 17, 2020; Saturday, October 31, 2020; and Saturday, November 7, 2020. This class is appropriate for everyone ages 16 and over. All skill levels are welcome, and all supplies will be provided. The cost of this class is $140.00 per person.

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, teaching artist Mariann Romero will lead “$5 Craft Night” from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It will be an evening of fun, crafting, and creativity for only $5.00. Romero will show you how to repurpose cardboard into stunning abstract sculptures. Learn basic concepts of composition, and how to personalize shapes and designs to build your own masterpiece. This class is appropriate for everyone ages 16 and over. All supplies will be provided, and no experience is necessary.

The Santa Paula Art Museum occupies two historic buildings located at 117 N 10th Street and 123 N 10th Street in downtown Santa Paula. Questions? Please contact the Museum by calling (805) 525-5554, or email [email protected].
