Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release

Suspect Arrested For Felony Gang Vandalism, Street Terrorism, and Parole Violations

On July 3, 2020, during the early morning hours, the Sheriff’s Gang Unit discovered fresh gang graffiti all along the 400 to 500 block of North Ventura Avenue in the unincorporated area in the community of Oak View. The graffiti was extensive and highly visible all along the Highway 33 corridor.

Sheriff’s Gang Unit investigators promptly began investigating this and canvassed the area. Investigators discovered 10 different businesses and residences that were vandalized overnight. With the assistance of the community they quickly discovered the graffiti was caused by Fidencio Ramirez, a local parolee gang member. Surveillance video footage showed Ramirez spray painting gang graffiti at numerous locations. Ramirez is on California Department Corrections parole for a 2014 robbery conviction.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. Sheriff’s Gang Unit investigators located Ramirez at his residence and arrested him for California Penal Code 594(a)(2)(A)/ Felony Vandalism, California Penal Code 186.22(a)/ Street Terrorism, Health and Safety Code 11364/ Drug Paraphernalia, and California Penal Code 3056/ Parole Violation. Ramirez was booked into the Sheriff’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility where he remains in custody with no bail.

Graffiti vandalism is an eyesore that directly affects the quality of life in our communities. If left unchecked, graffiti can decrease property values and lead to the deterioration of entire neighborhoods. The removal of graffiti costs homeowners, business owners and taxpayers thousands of dollars each year.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank members of the public for their on-going

support and due diligence in providing information to assist our agency in solving crimes. We are better at what we do because of our community partnerships.
