Ole Miss Football Player Earns Scholarship in One of the Coolest Ways Possible

David Hookstead | Reporter

Ole Miss football coach Matt Luke recently awarded receiver Floyd Allen a scholarship in unique fashion.

Luke brought up Allen in front of the team for a receiving drill and explained to him that there was a prize in a bag for the winner. Except, this situation was rigged from the start. Allen’s defender never attempted to apply pressure, he scored and found himself one hell of a prize in the bag. (RELATED: A TRIP TO AN OLE MISS FOOTBALL GAME IS A BORDERLINE RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE)

He had been awarded with a scholarship.

I’ve always respected the hell out of Ole Miss and their fanbase. They’re some of the best people on the planet. I’ve met people from all different regions and colleges across the great nation. Outside of my people in Wisconsin, I’m not sure I’ve met better people than those in Mississippi.

That’s why I’m not at all surprised with how this scholarship surprise went down. It was just a down to Earth approach, reminded people the importance of hard work and actually involved making a play. That’s all you can ask for.

Props to Luke and his staff for making this young man’s year.
