On hold for now: EPA Garnishing Wages for Fines—But will it come back?

The proposed rule will allow the EPA to garnish non-Federal wages to collect delinquent non-tax debts owed to the United States without first obtaining a court order. Public inquiries into this policy change revealed that other government agencies were adopting similar policies. The EPA has backed off and placed this idea on hold – for now.
