Overnight Full Closures of State Route 126 in Ventura for Paving Operations




VENTURA – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced plans to fully close State Route 126 (SR-126) in both directions next week for road paving operations in the city of Ventura.

From Monday, October 29 to Friday, November 2, the following full closures closures of SR126 will be in place in the city of Ventura and Santa Paula from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

• Monday, October 29: Eastbound and westbound SR-126 from Wells Rd. to Kimball Rd.
• Tuesday, October 30: Eastbound SR-126 from to Kimball Rd.to Wells Rd.
• Wednesday, October 31: No scheduled closures.
• Thursday, November 1: Eastbound SR-126 from Kimball Rd. to Wells Rd. and westbound SR-126 from Wells Rd. to Briggs Rd.
• Friday, November 2: Westbound and eastbound SR-126 from Wells Rd. to Briggs Rd.

One lane of eastbound SR-126 from U.S 101 to Haun Creek will also be closed during this time.

Closures may start and end later. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

A signed detour will be posted for motorists who need to continue their commute SR126. Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.

The closures are part of a road paving project on SR-126 that stretches from US-101 to Haun Creek Bridge. C.A. Rasmussen Inc. of Valencia, CA is the contractor. Caltrans reminds drivers to be “Work Zone Alert” and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
