Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release
On May 28, 2020, at approximately 2:25 AM, a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Honda Accord for a Vehicle Code violation in the 500 block of La Canada Avenue. As the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed a passenger exit and flee. During the investigation, a loaded handgun was discovered under the driver seat as well as a sawed-off shotgun. The driver, Francisco Lopez, was arrested without incident. During Lopez’s arrest, a small amount of methamphetamine and ammunition consistent with firearms possession was located on Lopez. Lopez was subsequently arrested for several felony firearm-related charges and possession of a control substance.
