Oxnard, CA | The City Is hiding Financial Information

An answer to Larry Stein's question

By Alex Nguyen,
The Interactive Financial Reporting Tool main page can be found here: https://oxnard.org/finances
In the left column of this report, the user can filter to show revenues, expenses, or both, they can select any of the last 6 fiscal years, they can filter to select individual funds, departments or divisions, or individual accounts, and click on line items to drill down to the lowest account level detail. There is also the option to view Accounts Payable data for each expense item.
A brief description of how to use the reports is linked from the main page here: https://stories.opengov.com/oxnardca/published/oA1gvo_VX

‘Oxnard, CA | The City Is hiding Financial Information’

This should surprise no one.

Thank you Ray, so true! Oxnard and Alex Nguyen have lots of priors as well as Carmen Ramirez.
Data should always be vetted!

Financial tools are just like any other software tool. They are useful only when input with valid data. I am not saying that Oxnard inputs invalid data, but I am saying the reader must be aware of this cautionary measure. Data should be vetting. I have personally found some financial information reported by the city of Oxnard to be misleading. The reviewers must be diligent and double check, otherwise, you get what is presented.
