By George Miller

Oxnard’s Veteran’s Day celebration featured a “Honor Walk” parade from City Hall to Plaza Park for a memorial and celebration of our veterans. Donuts, coffee and hot dogs were served by the Oxnard Elks.

Veterans from all wars since WWII were there for honors. Various government officials attended or participated,  such as Mayor Tim Flynn*, Council Members Bert Perello, Bryan MacDonald and Mayor ProTem Carmen Ramirez, VC Supervisor John Zaragoza, State Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin* and Congresswoman Julia Brownley* and LA VA Affairs Director Robert McKendrick* (*= event speakers). Past American Legion Oxnard Post Commander Dave Forney Emcee’d. Lorraine MacDonald sang the national anthem and God Bless America. Legion Chaplain Bill Winter said the invocation.
