Oxnard College Provides Temporary Shelter to Families Displaced from Port Hueneme Fire

Twelve families displaced as a result of Port Hueneme fire

Oxnard College President Cynthia Azari announced this morning that Oxnard College will provide temporary shelter for 12 families who were displaced as a result of a fire that occurred in an apartment building in Port Hueneme Thursday, February 23, 2017. Administrators at Oxnard College are working in collaboration with the Red Cross to provide shelter in the Oxnard College gym through Sunday, February 26, 2017.

“Our deepest sympathy goes to the families who have been affected by this event,” stated President Azari.  “We are a community college and today the emphasis is on community and what we can do to extend our services to help these families during this difficult time,” added Azari.

“The Ventura County Community College District is a community resource and we are always alert and supportive in times of need,” said VCCCD Board Chair Bernardo Perez.
