Oxnard Community Relations Commission to Host Town Hall Meeting and Expo

Oxnard, California​ – The City of Oxnard Community Relations Commission (CRC) will host its first annual Town Hall Meeting & Expo on Monday, April 16, at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, Oxnard Room, 800 Hobson Way, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Complimentary pizza and refreshments will be available. Admission is free.

The theme will be “A Recommitment to Our Youth,” and will address juvenile delinquency and gang prevention in the City of Oxnard. It’s an opportunity for all community-based organizations, city leadership and the educational system to come together to make this issue a top priority.

The event will begin with an expo and social hour from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and will feature information booths from various community-based organizations.

The panel discussion will run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and will include a lineup of leaders in public administration, nonprofit management, recreation, faith-based organizations and educational institutions. Confirmed panelists include: Mark Varela (probation); Dr. Angela M. Timmons (California State University, Channel Islands); Rev. Edgar Mohorko (clergy); Ingrid Hardy (City of Oxnard Community & Cultural Affairs); Anthony Martinez (City Impact); a school resource officer (Oxnard Police Department); and Dr. Penelope DeLeon (Oxnard Union High School District, Superintendent)

The panel will be moderated by CRC Commissioner Adam Lopez. A Q&A will follow from 7:30 p.m. to     8 p.m.

The CRC is comprised of seven members appointed to identify and advise Oxnard City Council on problems of discrimination in the community and to promote better human relations among all city residents.
