Oxnard Councilman Perello’s FY 16-17 City Budget Development Preview Message

press_release_iconFellow Oxnard residents and taxpayers:

On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, beginning at 10:00 a.m in the Oxnard City Council Chambers, Members of the City Council will begin a two day budget workshop to receive the City Manager’s Draft Fiscal Year 2016-17 city budget.

A city budget is a very important governance document. It should set forth a clear financial road-map that charts the City’s spending course for the next twelve months. It identifies the Council’s spending priorities, the cost of city programs, investments in public infrastructure, and the projected level, quality, and results of city services that Oxnard’s residents and ratepayers expect, need, and deserve.

This week, the Oxnard City Council will hold a public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2016-17 budget beginning on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 6:15 p.m. to give the public an opportunity to provide their valuable input and ask questions regarding the City Manager’s proposed budget. The City’s budget hearing will be held in the City Council Chambers, 305 West Third Street, Oxnard, CA. I urge you to participate in that budget hearing as you see fit.
The City’s upcoming budget workshop and public hearing will be broadcast live on Oxnard CityWatch Television. Time-Warner Cable subscribers can watch the meetings on Channel 10, and Frontier Communications customers can tune in to Channel 35. The Council’s budget meetings will also be live streamed on the City’s website at www.oxnard.org.
