Oxnard | Fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian and vehicle

Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release

On November 24, 2020, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to a traffic collision that occurred on C Street near Elm Street. The driver of the Honda Accord, identified as a 61-year-old female of Oxnard, was uninjured and cooperated with investigating Officers.  The pedestrian was provided first aid and life-saving measures at the scene and transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Traffic investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation.  Based on the initial investigation, Officers determined that a 1997 Honda Accord was traveling Northbound on C Street and collided with an 80-year old male pedestrian walking in the street.  Immediately after the collision, the driver stopped and called 911. Traffic investigators do not believe alcohol/drugs were involved, and the speed of the vehicle does not appear to be a contributing factor to the collision.

The collision is still under investigation, and traffic investigators are attempting to determine the events that led up to the collision and the cause of the collision.  Anyone who has information regarding this collision is urged to contact Officer Mike Wood at (805) 385-7748 or via email at [email protected], or online via the Oxnard Police Department’s website:  www.oxnardpd.org, and clicking on Report Suspicious Activity. Any witness can also remain anonymous by calling the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477, or visiting www.venturacountycrimestoppers.org to submit a tip via text or email.
