Oxnard Fire Department to Graduate 19 new firefighters. Largest class in OFD history

Friday, September 8th at 10 am Oxnard Fire Department will hold a graduation ceremony for 19 new Firefighters who have successfully completed an intensive 16-week fire academy. Class 2017 is the largest class in Oxnard Fire Department history. The Fire Department is expecting upwards of 300 people in attendance from other Fire Departments, local dignitaries and family of those who are graduating. The graduation ceremony will be held at 350 South K St. in the Police Activities League Gymnasium. Additionally, the Fire Department will recognize several current members of the Oxnard Fire Department who have been promoted through the ranks to Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief.

Following the graduation, there will be a “live fire” demonstration at Fire Station #1 directly across the street where the recruits will demonstrate the skills they have acquired for the audience to witness; the demo will include Fire Suppression, Vehicle Extrication, Rescue and more.
