    Ventura County Sheriff Department – Incident Press Release

    On April 26, 2019, Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit coordinated a narcotics enforcement operation aimed at combating illegal narcotics activities in the coastal communities of Ventura County and surrounding neighborhoods. Deputies contacted and arrested Joseph Manzano of Oxnard for narcotics and firearms violations.

    On April 27, 2019, at approximately 1:38 AM, deputies were conducting directed enforcement in the area of Roland Way and Cuesta Del Mar Drive in the City of Oxnard. This area is in the South Winds neighborhood a short distance from Port Hueneme beach. Deputies observed a vehicle being driven in the area and conducted an enforcement stop on the vehicle for a vehicle code violation.

    Deputies contacted four occupants, including Joseph Manzano who is a documented member of a criminal street gang. Manzano was the front passenger in the vehicle. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle pursuant to the Ventura County probation terms of one of the other occupants. During the investigation, deputies found approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine and packaging consistent with narcotics sales. Additionally, deputies located a loaded rifle which had a sawed off barrel. Through the investigation, deputies determined the methamphetamine and illegal rifle belonged to Manzano. Manzano was subsequently arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for narcotics and firearms related offenses. Manzano’s bail was set at $100,000.00 and is pending criminal proceedings.
