Oxnard Gang Member Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

On October 5, 2018 at approximately 4:05 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Channel Islands Blvd. @ Victoria Ave. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as 25 year old Ronald Amesquita. He is identified as an active gang member in the City of Oxnard and was known to have an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.  Amesquita fled in his vehicle from officers to the area of Channel Islands Blvd. and Bolker Way where he fled on foot after colliding with a parked vehicle. Pursuing officers were able to apprehend Amesquita without incident. He was arrested for his outstanding felony warrant, evading police, fleeing the scene of an accident and resisting arrest.

Amesquita has an extensive history of arrests. Some of his arrests include assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, vehicle theft, evading police and attempting to escape from custody.
