On March 19, 2021, detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Gang Unit contacted and arrested Miguel Perez from Oxnard and arrested him for narcotics sales and firearms related charges.
On March 19, 2021, detectives with the Sheriff’s Gang Unit were conducting directed enforcement in the City of Oxnard. Detectives observed Perez driving a vehicle in the area of Vineyard Avenue and Esplanade Drive. Detectives were familiar with Perez and had prior knowledge his driving privilege was suspended or removed due to a driving under the influence conviction. Detectives also knew Perez was on active Ventura County probation for driving under the influence.
Detectives conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Perez and detained him pursuant to the terms of his probation. Perez was arrested for driving on a suspended license and detectives conducted a probation search of his residence located in the 200 Block of Saint Marys Drive in Oxnard. During the search, detectives located cocaine and paraphernalia indicative of narcotics sales. Detectives also located a loaded firearm in Perez’ bedroom. Perez has previous felony convictions that prohibit him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition.
Based on the investigation, Perez was arrested for cocaine sales and firearms possession charges. Perez was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is awaiting court proceedings.
