Oxnard man arrested–Discards loaded firearm attempts to flee
tadalafil arial, doctor sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On February 20, 2016 at approximately 9:20 PM, investigators from the Oxnard Police Department Violent Crimes Unit were conducting uniformed crime suppression when they observed Daniel Arciaga, 20 year old Oxnard resident, in the 1800 block of Napoleon Avenue. Arciaga immediately fled and discarded a loaded firearm. Arciaga was taken into custody after a brief chase.
Arciaga is a documented Oxnard gang member and has several prior felony convictions including a conviction of felon in possession of a firearm. Arciaga was arrested for weapons violations and booked at the Ventura County Jail.
At the beginning of 2014, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative, as well as the Firearms Strike Team (FAST) led by the Violent Crimes Unit, to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons in the city. The objective of the initiative and FAST is to reduce gun violence in Oxnard through education, intervention and enforcement.
