On January 7, 2021, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded a narcotics sales investigation involving Damian Castaneda from Oxnard, who was involved in the sales of narcotics to residents of Ventura County.
During the month of December 2020, detectives received information indicating Castaneda was involved in the sales of narcotics in the City of Oxnard. Detectives began an investigation and were able to gather evidence confirming Castaneda’s involvement in narcotics sales. Detectives identified a residence in the 5400 Block of Cypress Road, which Castaneda was using to store his illegal narcotics. Detectives worked with the Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit, who also received information regarding Castaneda’s involvement in the sales of illegally possessed prescription medication. Detectives subsequently gathered enough evidence and obtained a search warrant for the residence associated with Castaneda.
On January 7, 2021, detectives contacted Castaneda near the 5400 Block of Cypress Road. Castaneda was arrested and transported to the Headquarters Station for processing. Following the arrest, detectives served the search warrant at the residence. During the search, detectives seized approximately 2700 Farmapram (Alprazolam) pills, which are manufactured in Mexico. Farmapram is typically smuggled from Mexico and sold for large profits in the United States. Detectives seized cocaine, marijuana, concentrated cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms and THC vapes possessed for sale. Detectives also located a stolen firearm and currency believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales.
Based on the investigation, Castaneda was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on various narcotics and firearms charges.
