Jonathan Zambrano (DOB 01/24/90), of Oxnard, was sentenced to 22 years in state prison for the death of Albert Salazar, also from Oxnard. On February 8, 2021, Zambrano pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and admitted to personally using a firearm in the shooting.Â
On July 19, 2017, Zambrano and Mr. Salazar were in the 1300 block of West Guava Street in Oxnard. While standing outside of a residence, Zambrano took out a gun and shot Mr. Salazar one time. Shortly after the shooting occurred, Mr. Salazar was transported by a private party to the parking lot of the Oxnard Police Department, where responding officers administered first aid until EMS arrived. Mr. Salazar was then transported to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he later died. The case was investigated by the Oxnard Police Department.
