Oxnard Man Sentenced in 2017 Stabbing

Acting District Attorney Cheryl M. Temple announced today that Omar Alan Tapia (DOB 11/17/92), of Oxnard, was sentenced to 18 years in state prison for the death of Jesus Pizano, also from Oxnard. On December 4, 2020, Tapia pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and admitted to personally using a knife during the incident.

On December 5, 2017, Tapia and Mr. Pizano got into an argument at an apartment complex in Oxnard shortly before midnight. The argument ended with Tapia stabbing Mr. Pizano multiple times with a knife. Mr. Pizano was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he died several days later.  This case was investigated by the Oxnard Police Department
