Oxnard PD arrests documented gang for suspected kidnapping

site arial,sans-serif;”>On October 19, 2015, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) and K9 Unit were conducting gang enforcement near Saviers Road and Laurel Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop of a silver BMW X5 for a mechanical violation.

During the traffic stop the driver and front passenger of the car told the officers that the subject seated in the back seat, later identified as 25 year old Oxnard resident Alexander Baez, had jumped into their car while they were stopped at a stop sign. Neither one knew who Baez was. Baez ordered the driver to drive southbound on Saviers Rd. The driver complied with Baez fearing that he was possibly armed. As the officers were being given this information Baez attempted to flee from the vehicle. The officers gave chase and after a brief struggle were able to take Baez into custody. Baez is a documented gang member and has been served with the civil gang injunction. Baez is currently on probation and parole. Baez was arrested and charged with kidnapping, violation of a gang injunction, parole violation, resisting arrest, and was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. It is unknown what Baez’s motive was. Baez was not armed and neither victim was harmed during this incident.

The Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang crimes and related violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city. Residents are reminded to report suspicious activity or otherwise witness crime.

Was their any mention of Baez’s citizenship; or is that taboo to ask in Ventura?
